Directions:After you finished annotating the article in its entirety, please answer the following questions and/or prompt in a well-developed paragraph.

  1. What are your thoughts about the plan to ban Muslims from entering the United States?
  2. Select a passage and "reflect" on it.

  1. This ban is unconstitutional, the entire country was built on travelers and immigrants. The people who support this ban are supporting discrimination against people because of their religion and that is not alright. Many people in the United States have different beliefs about different religions but the one thing most have in common is that we try not to put people down because of their beliefs.
In paragraph 16, people are standing up against President Trump and his ridiculous bans because they know what he is doing is wrong. There were protest and marches all over the country, ranging from the East Coast to the West Coast. I think that there should be protest daily until the ban is lifted or until the 90 days are up. I'm surprised that more officials and celebrities aren't willing to fight their president and stand against this injustice. Many people prefer to sit back and be quite until something affects them personally but we can not do that this time because to many lives are in danger

    1. I agree with you in the first paragraph. The pilgrims came here seeking religious asylum. Then others came to seek freedom or a better life from those who wanted to do harm. My only thing I would ask is, how is it unconstitutional. I ask this in the same way someone would ask a Supreme Court Justice. To answer your surprisement in your second paragraph, the reason more officials aren't going against Trump is fear that they will get hurt in the process. Now why celebrities aren't? I don't know why.

  2. I think it is atrocious that he has used his power in such way. I can understand if he was to make an executive order on increased security. Though a complete ban is just way too much. It was also way too early to make an act like this. If he wants to unify us and "make America great again", then he shouldn't make things like this this early on in the game. He also hurt US citizens. Now they are stuck in other countries, because of him. In paragraph eleven on the bottom of the first page, people that legally came in were detained because they didn't enter the US before the order was made. This goes against the constitution in the way that he made an order that incriminated a person that did an act that wasn't illegal.

    1. I also believe he made a huge move too early in the game. I feel he's bring extremely over the top with the ban. I really like the last point you made at the end of your response and it is absolutely true, I think his act was very unconstitutional

  3. I think the Muslim ban was the most horrible and uncalled for idea that was unfortunately put into action. Like come on now, how are you already making bad moves? This ban doesn't seem like it was very well thought out to me either. For one, it's not only effecting the Muslims but its also affecting Americans and people who are legal immigrants in the United States trying to get in as well. Our people and legal immigrants are literally stuck in other countries! Where are the people that actually live here suppose to go for 90 days? I'm upset just thinking about it, so i know the victims of the ban are very upset. For two, if the ban is meant to stop terrorist from getting in , why would you close the ports in every other country except Saudi Arabia if it's home to most of the 9/11 hijackers? Now I'm thinking it's more than just terrorist coming into America, but the whole Muslim race itself. I'm sorry, but someone needs to get bold and stop this man before he pulls another bad idea.

    1. First off, I love your evaluation. Your writing style is very likable; it feels like I’m listening to a conversation. You are clearly quite passionate about your thoughts. The fact that he didn’t block Saudi Arabia, despite the fact we are more likely to get terrorists from there, makes little sense. You could have also added United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Lebanon, but that is just an idea. However, I suppose this is nitpicking, and I know my use of grammar isn’t perfect, so please don’t take this as an insult. Make sure you always capitalize the pronoun I and distinguish it’s from its. Other than that, great job!

  4. I think the plan to ban Muslims was just plain out wrong. I feel like he is taking advantage of his power and thinks he can do whatever. He has discriminated them because of their religion and that was wrong. I think Trump is already starting off wrong, and for him to put a ban on Muslims, he is not only affecting them but their families. His actions caused US citizens to get stuck in other countries and is not able to come back to their families for 90 days. What if they have kids to take care of,families to feed? What are they going to do during those three months away from their families? If our countries supports religious freedom, then why is Trump taking that away from Muslims? He claims that this will stop terrorist from entering the US but most terrorist aren't even Muslim, another bad move from Trump. Him putting a ban on Muslims affects us all. Is this really the president we want to run our country? A president is supposed to help build our country and help us rise to the top together, but Trump seems to be doing the complete opposite.

  5. I believe that majority of the country does support all religions but it's trump who is against Muslims. He wants to "Make America Great Again" but for who? America has been great toward white people who support crazy things such as this ban, when will American be "great" for people of any color? As a president he feels like the only way to make things better is to block out all the people and places he sees as a problem But the thing is he is going at it the wrong way. What trump is doing know is a last resort not a first try, he should've talked to these places and people he was going to ban before he did it.
